When  Professor Tom talked about special bulletins I remember when I was a kid when the TV flashed "Special Bulletin"  everyone ran to the TV and  knew that a war began, ended, President was shot, or died.  There was no TV interruptions for sports figures signing on or off a team.  Today if someone breaks a toe nail it seems it makes headlines.  Does anyone remember when TV went off around 2am and you would get a circle with buzzing noise?

  1. I remember that our local stations used to play the Star Spangled Banner while the flag displayed on the air. It went to static after that.
